Gualtiero Marchesi

Gualtiero Marchesi, undisputed master of Italian cuisine, a witty connoisseur and inventor of avant-garde cooking tools speaks. Utility comes before design.

“I chose Greggio, the silver specialist, to translate the concepts I had in my head to the best” “Food must be prepared respecting the essence and the balance between foods, without superstructures dictated by fashions or aesthetic needs that impede their effective enjoyment”, says Gualtiero Marchesi.

And he continues: “The human being has the tendency to complicate his life, to build things that distract him from the fundamental purpose.” And he resumes: “I try to exalt the subject by doing things simply and clearly. Here, then, is that the dish itself is no longer a support for food but a space to frame it.

I invented my own containers and thought about different developments for cutlery. This is how the “Greggio for Gualtiero Marchesi” collection was born: a collection composed of table accessories in silver metal with an essential design, simple and refined tools for give strength to my idea of total cuisine, understood as an environment in which food, forms and spaces dialogue to enhance the flavors that animate the dishes and bring about emotions.
